Independent. We are not Chamberlain University and are not paid by them.

Chamberlain is two schools wearing one name. They are $53,000 apart.

Same university, same BSN at the end of it. The price you are quoted depends entirely on which door you walk in — and almost nobody is shown both. We support working nurses across seventeen online programmes, which is the only reason we can afford to tell you that plainly.

Below you will find both prices, what the Practicum Commitment actually promises, how the student portal and its vocabulary work, and the schools that beat Chamberlain for particular people.

Which door are you coming in?

Pick one and the figures below re-read themselves for your route. It is the only question on this page that changes every other answer.

122

Credits, if you have no licence

Nothing is granted for prior learning because there is none to grant. You take the whole degree, at private per-credit rates, and that is where the premium lives.

Three years, full time

Run year-round on 8-week sessions rather than a traditional academic calendar, so the time is compressed even though the credit count is not.

45

Credits, if you are licensed

Chamberlain grants up to 77 credits for prior learning against the same 122-credit degree. You buy the remainder, which is why the completion route is the competitive half of the school.

Six starts a year

Two sessions inside each of the summer, fall and spring semesters. You are rarely more than a few weeks from a start date — which is also why the decision can feel rushed.

What each door costs, side by side

These are Chamberlain's own published rates, applied to Chamberlain's own credit counts. The gold column is the part nobody puts in front of you.

$82,350 Pre-licensure BSN
122 credits at about $675
$29,220 RN-to-BSN completion
45 credits, fees included
$53,130 The difference between the two doors

Pre-licensure figure is 122 credit hours at the commonly published per-credit rate, tuition only, before fees, books and campus charges — and some campuses are quoted materially higher, which pushes it further. The RN-to-BSN figure is Chamberlain's own published total including fees, and it is low precisely because Chamberlain grants 77 credits for prior learning, leaving 45 to take. Rates move by campus, programme and intake, so treat both as order-of-magnitude and confirm with the school before you enrol.

If you are coming in without a licence

The full pre-licensure route. Chamberlain is a health-professions university with campuses you can actually attend, and that is what you are paying the premium for.

The Practicum Commitment is a commitment to an introduction

Chamberlain's placement promise is the most generous-sounding of the big online nursing schools, and it is genuinely better than being left alone. It is also more limited than the name suggests, and the limit sits in one clause.

They will find one preceptor or site located within 100 miles and provide you with an available preceptor's contact information. You then connect with the preceptor to secure their commitment and submit your practicum application. Chamberlain University, Practicum Commitment

What Chamberlain commits to

Real, and more than most schools offer.

  • Finding one preceptor or site within 100 miles, or otherwise geographically reachable
  • Handing you that preceptor's contact details
  • Coaching from the Experiential Learning Team on how to approach a site
  • Resources and templates for making the approach

What stays yours

This is where the promise stops.

  • Contacting that preceptor and persuading them to take you
  • Securing the commitment — a name is not a placement
  • Submitting the practicum application and clearing site onboarding
  • Doing it again if they decline, because one introduction is what was promised

Is Chamberlain worth its premium for you?

Four questions. It will say no where no is the honest answer — we work across seventeen programmes and have no reason to steer you into the most expensive one.

Question 1 / 4

Where are you starting from?

Upshot

    Have the numbers checked

Get the number for your own situation, from someone not selling it.

Twenty minutes, free, no obligation. Nobody here is paid whichever school you pick, and on door one we will usually tell you to look at a cheaper route first.

    • Which door you are actually being quoted, and what the campus near you charges rather than the headline rate
    • What an ADN-first route would cost you end to end, including the Chamberlain completion at the other side
    • Whether the Practicum Commitment reaches your specialisation and your county
    • A straight recommendation, naming the schools that beat Chamberlain for you
